TheatreworksUSA presents "The Mystery of King Tut" as part of the Martha-Ellen Tye Performing Arts Institute Youth Matinee Series.

Theatreworks' musical production tells the exciting stories of two characters: Tutankhamen, the "boy king" who ruled Egypt in the 14th century B.C., and Howard Carter, the archeologist who make him famous by discovering his tomb in 1922.

After ten years of searching, Carter finally locates one of the greatest finds in archeological history. As he unravels the mysteries of the tomb's hieroglyphs and artifacts, the suspenseful tale of Tut's own struggles against polititcs and betrayal emerges. Carter's success is bittersweet as he confronts rumors of "King Tut's curse" and government opposition, but he perseveres to keep his dream and the legacy of King tut alive.

The Mystery of King Tut weaves together a compelling tale of two men looking to leave their marks on history in two very different worlds.
