The Waikato Environmental Council has imposed nitrogen limits on farmers in the iconic Lake Taupo region of New Zealand. Mike and Sharon Barton farm in this region, raising beef cattle. Mike currently serves as a trustee on the Lake Taupo Protection Trust, which has been charged with reducing manageable nitrogen inflows.
