"GIS Descriptive Modeling of Historic Trees in Polk and Dallas Counties, Iowa," Paul Anderson, ISU landscape architecture and agronomy, and Jonathan Nelsen, ISU landscape architecture. They have examined the spatial pattern of tree distribution recorded in U.S. General Land office surveys from 1832-1859 and used GIS descriptive modeling to understand the "fire shadow" effect of rivers and associated steep slopes on spatial distribution of trees.

Part of the GIS Seminar Series.
