Paul Maier is professor emeritus in the Department of History at Western Michigan University, where he was the Russell H. Seibert Professor of Ancient History. He is the author of sixteen published books, including The Da Vinci Code: Fact or Fiction? and the religious fiction bestseller A Skeleton in God's Closet.

Paul Maier has a master's from Harvard University and Concordia Seminary and a doctorate from University of Basel, Switzerland. His nonfiction publications include translations of the writings of Josephus and Eusebius of Caesarea's Church History. His other works of historical fiction are Pontius Pilate, The Flames of Rome and More Than A Skeleton.
