A cappella group Calmus Ensemble Leipzig will hold a lecture/workshop with the Iowa State Singers that is open to the public.

The Calmus Ensemble is in town for a 7:30 p.m. concert April 11 at the Ames City Auditorium. The five-member ensemble will perform a program that features music styles from the 17th century to the present.

Founded in 1999 by members of the famed Thomasschulle Boys Choir, the group completed its signature sound two years later when it added one female voice. Anja Lipfert has crowned the ensemble’s sound with her bright soprano voice, cultivated in her years in the Children’s Choir of the Middle German State Radio Network and continuing at the Leipzig Conservatory. The other members of the quintet are Sebastian Krause, countertenor; Tobias Pöche, tenor; Ludwig Böhme, baritone; and Joe Roesler, bass.
