Have you recently experienced the loss of a loved one? Are you having difficulty focusing because of a change to your family structure (e.g., separation from a partner, caregiving for a new child or an adult family member, financial concerns, physical or mental health concerns)? If so, you are NOT alone!

We all know that academia can be stressful and demanding regardless of rank. And in the midst, life happens! We have to manage transitions, unexpected changes, and loss. Balancing these life events while also trying to teach your courses, complete a dissertation, publish your next manuscript, or meet the deadline for a major grant application can be difficult.

Through this interactive workshop, we will:
- Highlight the challenges related to dealing with life transitions and loss as graduate students and faculty from underrepresented backgrounds
- Discuss the common mistakes that graduate students, faculty, and administrators make when faced with life transitions
- Identify coping strategies that will enable you to prioritize your wellness (and dare I say, flourish!) even in the midst of difficult life events

Facilitator: Mindi Thompson, PhD, HSP is an Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology at The University of Wisconsin-Madison

This event will be held online: Tele-Workshop
