The evidence is clear that instructional practices rooted in educational myths actually harm student learning--that is, our students learn less when we use these concepts to inform our teaching! Participants in this session will learn why myths like 'learning styles' actually harm learning, and will be introduced to more scientifically-sound ways to plan activities and assignments.
Participants will leave this session understanding why learning styles are an educational myth, alongside strategies for designing varied activities and assignments that promote meaningful learning.
This session is led by Alyssa Emery, School of Education.
