Computer Science: Student poster presentation
Graduate and undergraduate students will highlight their research during this annual event presented by the computer science department and Graduate Student Organization. Visitors are invited to vote for the top posters. This year's event is sponsored by Kingland and the Graduate and Professional Student Senate.

Lecture: The Art of Language Invention
A linguist by training, David J. Peterson offers an overview of language creation, covering its history from Tolkien's creations and Klingon to today's global community of conlangers. He will share stories of how he built Dothraki and Valyrian (Game of Thrones) and discuss the essential tools necessary for inventing and evolving new languages. This session will discuss the essential elements of a quality data management plan and provide resources to assist you with the development of your agency-specific DMP proposal.

Farewell reception: Darren Jarboe
Darren Jarboe, program manager at the Center for Crops Utilization Research, will be joining the faculty at the University of Maryland after 22 years of service to Iowa State University. This is a come-and-go reception.
Retirement reception
A reception will honor several research farm staff members who are retiring: Steve Goben, Kevin Maher and Nick Piekema from the McNay Research Farm, Chariton; and Dale Niedermann from the Ag Engineering/Agronomy Research Farm, Boone. A program will begin at 2:15 p.m.

Workshop: The Pedagogy of Canvas Quizzes
Participants will learn how to use Quizzes in Canvas. The workshop will focus on practical ways to customize Quiz Settings as well as create and administer Quizzes with a variety of question types to accommodate specific learning situations. Quiz Moderation and Analytics will be also explored.
Meeting: Faculty Senate
The Faculty Senate represents the general faculty of Iowa State University and participates in shared governance of the University with the administration. Senate meetings are open to the public.

Workshop: Assignments and Gradebook in Canvas
Assignments are a backbone of the course's Gradebook in Canvas. Participants will learn to create and manage Assignments and Assignment Groups as well as explore how the Gradebook is connected to the organization of Assignments. Participants will experience the power of SpeedGrader for efficient and effective grading.
Artful Yoga
This practice will enrich your yoga experience by going beyond the physical and inviting an artistic perspective to your awareness. The practice will begin at 5:30 with a brief talk connecting the current exhibition to the yoga practice. No yoga experience is necessary, but please bring your own mat. Take in the magnetic sculpture of the "Manuel Neri: Ambiguity, Mystery and Allure" exhibition, or ignite conversation within the ReACT Gallery's "Green Dot" exhibition with your Valentine after hours. Workshop: Research with Human Subjects
"Navigating Your Research with Human Subjects: The IRB Submission Process." In this session, you will learn tips on developing and submitting protocols to the Institutional Review Board (IRB). An IRB staff member will walk through key sections of the non-exempt IRB application and explain what the IRB looks for during the review process. Digital Humanities in Practice: The Wikipedia "Edit-a-Thon"
Digital Humanities has been one of the most ubiquitous phrases on university campuses for a number of years. This workshop will put a practical and pedagogical face to the phrase, by introducing the concept of a Wikipedia "Edit-a-Thon." Attendees will learn how to turn Wikipedia editing (updating as well as creating entries) into a valuable teaching tool in the humanities. Preregistration is required. Register through Learn@ISU.
