Inception workshop: Global Food Security Consortium
The consortium, an ISU Presidential Initiative announced in June, is holding its first workshop. Participants will discuss interdisciplinary, comprehensive and innovative approaches to the problems of global food security. Workshop continues Oct 2 (8:30 a.m.-noon). Service-Learning: A Teaching and Learning Circle
This teaching and learning circle will offer a brief introduction to the topic of service-learning and progress into a deeper discussion of how to make meaning out of service-learning. Designs feature inspirational quotes and iconic images that celebrate achievements by Latino Americans.
Wheel Pottery Class
Students will be guided through all aspects of forming bowls, mugs, vases and more on the pottery wheel. Learn hand-pulling, glazing and finishing techniques. Open to absolute beginners as well as those with experience who would like to improve their technique and abilities.

While the possibilities for incorporating writing into a course are endless, these choices can also be overwhelming. What types of assignments will work in my course? How can I respond efficiently to student writing? Behind all of those sore muscles you may find patience, peace, and a stronger mind/body connection. No yoga experience is necessary, but please bring your own mat. This free yoga practice is sponsored by the University Museums and Recreation Services.
Fall Leadership Conference
As a part of this conference, each participant chose a track that best represented their current leadership comfort and covered topics they were most interested in learning more about. These tracks provided information to students at all stages at ISU and in their development. Participants had the opportunity to hear from a keynote speaker, peers, faculty and staff, and more, and engage in activities to enhance leadership skills.

For the beginner who wants to learn the fundamentals of woodworking equipment. Proper usage of the machinery will be covered, as well as woodshop safety. This class is required in order to use the woodshop on your own.
