Symposium: Sustaining Health in a Changing Environment
Hosted by ISU's Nutrition and Wellness Research Center, the symposium will look at sustainability of health in a world facing climate change, population explosion and dminishing resources. It opened May 16.
ISUAA Inspiration Awards
Alumni and friends of the ISU Alumni Association are invited to attend the ISUAA Inspiration Awards a Annual Recognition Dinner (formerly known as Annual Meeting and Dinner). Events include a reception (5:30 p.m.), followed by the annual meeting, dinner and dessert reception. ISUAA president Jeff Johnson will recognize retiring members of the board of directors and honor recipients of the Faculty-Staff Inspiration Award.

GIS Short Course: Spatial Exploration of the 2010 Census
In this one-day, hands-on workshop, professional planners will learn to work with data from the 2010 U.S. Census, the American Community Survey, and a third party using geographic information systems (GIS). The course will be presented by Monica Haddad, associate professor of community and regional planning and ISU Extension GIS specialist. It is sponsored by the Iowa Chapter of the American Planning Association (Iowa APA).
Workshop: Ion Torrent sequencing technology
ISU's Genomic Technologies Facility now offers Ion Torrent next-generation sequencing service. This workshop will introduce the technology, and will be followed by a viewing of Ion Torrent's "Ion Bus" (noon-3 p.m.), parked on the south side of the Carver Co-Lab. RSVPs are requested to gtfstaff@iastate.edu for either the workshop or bus viewing (where a pizza lunch will be served).
