Workshop: Ready to Run Iowa
"Conquering the Camera: An Interactive Media Training." This workshop includes tips for successful interviews on tough topics, how to look poised and professional on camera, staying on message, public speaking techniques, and strategies for using online and social media tools.
Beginning ballroom dance class
Beginning social ballroom dance lessons, hosted by the ISU Ballroom Dance Club. Class meets on Fridays through July 5, then twice weekly (Thursdays and Fridays) through Aug. 2. No partner required. First lesson is free; fee includes 11 class meetings.

"One Yard Wonder" Sewing: Crafter's Caddy Class
A class for beginning sewers who can thread the machine and sew a little but need some direction to practice their skills. Using the book One Yard Wonders, Judith will lead students through the steps to make the "Ammo Belt," a storage solution with fabric pouches to hold your essential tools.

This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance.

Great Plants for Iowa
"Houseplants" Great Plants for Iowa series will allow participants to develop knowledge of the wide variety of garden plants that grow well in Central Iowa. Covering nearly 500 plants, these 16 classes are spread across several years.

Kid's Story Time

Haiga - Painting & Poetry
Exploring the art of haiga, a style of Japanese painting that often accompanies a haiku poem, this crash combo course will offer two sessions of haiku, and two sessions of brush painting, followed by a garden exhibition. Students will first learn to write and appreciate the beautiful poetic art of haiku with poet Dennis Maulsby, then will push the art form to new levels by discovering various techniques for brush painting with artist and instruct
Watercolor Class
Watercolor is a powerful and technical medium in which one can achieve beautiful results with a relatively quick sketch, or brilliant finished work with the investment of more time and craft. It is fairly easy to transport and thus a good tool for one who wants to capture a landscape or paint outside.

Paint Your Own Pottery with Amanda Barr
Part of our summer series of weekly Paint Your Own Pottery techniques led by area artists. "Painting" bisque is a fun and relaxing way to spend an evening. Juxtaposed stamped images and text on Amanda's pottery result in messages that are humorous, whimsical and sometimes macabre. Make a set of nesting bowls that will be great for functional and decorative use.

Plant Pals
Join us and cultivate a garden at Reiman Gardens. We are going to grow huge vegetables like giant pumpkins, tomatoes and sunflowers, as well as beautiful flowers. Each session has hands-on activities to interact with all the wonderful plants that we enjoy and eat. Classes are great for kids of all ages to participate in with an adult. $2 for members. $6 for the general public. Iowa State University students pay 15% off member price.
Retirement reception: Kathleen Jones
Kathleen Jones, associate vice president for student affairs, is retiring July 5. She began her Iowa State career in 1972 as a records clerk, went on to serve many years as university registrar and will complete her ISU service on July 5. A short program will begin at 3:30 p.m.
