Nuclear Arms Control for the 21st Century
Rose Gottemoeller is the Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Arms Control, Verification and Compliance, and was the chief negotiator of the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) with the Russian Federation. She was formerly the Deputy Undersecretary of Energy for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation and responsible for all nonproliferation cooperation with Russia and the Newly Independent States. Alan Hashimoto is an associate professor of graphic design and computer art at Utah State University. He has created over 500 published visual design solutions for more than 100 corporations, advertising firms and design studios. His design experience includes corporate branding, packaging, interactive design, animation and digital video. He is the second guest speaker in the ISU College of Design's Digital Media Lecture Series.

Nobody's Enemy: The Youth Culture of Iran
Neda Sarmast will show clips from her documentary, "Nobody's Enemy: The Youth Culture of Iran," and discuss her work to correct misperceptions about Iranians and Muslims in the U.S. media. In 2005 she returned to her native Iran to film a documentary on the country's youth culture. She uses the film to facilitate global youth dialogue and promote tolerance among Eastern and Western cultures.

Errington Memorial Lecture: Tracking Giants across the Blue Oceans
Marine biologist Barbara Block is recognized for her research on the movement patterns and behavior of large pelagic fishes, such as tunas, billfishes and sharks. A former MacArthur Fellow, Block helped establish the Tuna Research and Conservation Center to study the physiology and population structure of these species, which are highly exploited by international fisheries.

Steven Blair is a recognized authority on exercise and its health benefits. He is coauthor of Fitness after 50, Active Living Every Day, and Physical Activity and Health and was the senior scientific editor for the first U.S. Surgeon General's Report on Physical Activity and Health. Virtual Reality Experience
Iowa State University's Virtual Reality Applications Center will be showing off its 3-D technology during its "Virtual Reality Experience." The tour is free and open to the public, but online registration is required.
Workshop: Game development
"Using XNA Framework to Support Game Development." This workshop aims at introducing the foundations of video games development to audiences with programming background (data structure and object oriented concepts) but have not programmed with computer graphics or video games. In essence, this is a workshop about building simple interactive graphical applications. Preregistration required. Refreshments provided.
