ICYIZERE: Hope is a documentary by filmmaker Patrick Mureithi, who traveled to Rwanda to film a gathering of 10 survivors and ten perpetrators of the l994 genocide. Part of the World Affairs Series and the Martin Luther King Jr Holiday Series.
Beginning social ballroom class
The ISU Ballroom Dance Club is offering a beginning ballroom class on Tuesdays or Fridays this semester; everyone is welcome, no partner required. Classes meet once a week for 11 weeks. The beginning classes emphasize basic steps of swing and foxtrot with an introduction to the waltz, cha cha, and possibly salsa.

"Can We Save the World?" Wendy Chamberlin, Middle East Institute and veteran of the U.S. Foreign Service. She was the U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan from 2001 to 2002 and played a key role in Pakistan's cooperation for the U.S.-led campaign against al Qaeda terrorists in Afghanistan following 9/11.

Russell is supervisor of equipment inventory, and has worked in the Controller's Department the past five years. Previously, he was part of Asset Recovery/Inventory Control for 13 years.

Kingland has served ISU for nearly 40 years in various IT-related positions, most recently as one of the university's three associate chief information officers.

Carolyn has worked at ISU since 1983. She has spent her entire employment with the Office of Student Financial Aid, the last 22 years as secretary to the director.

Williams, the secretary for the department of apparel, educational studies and hospitality management, is retiring Jan. 29. A brief presentation will begin at 3 p.m.

Dan Spencer, Central Stores, is retiring after nearly 37 years of service to ISU.

Volkers has been the greenhouse manager for the plant pathology department since 1981 and the natural resource ecology and management department as well since 2007.

Jeff Berger, professor of animal science, is retiring after 38 years at Iowa State. A program begins at 2:30 p.m.

Lecture: Tracy Krumm, Visiting Artist
Krumm served as juror for the 42nd Annual National Clay, Fiber, Paper, Glass, Metal, Wood Juried Exhibition at the Octagon Center for the Arts in Ames. She will visit the ISU College of Design on Jan. 29, giving a demonstration and speaking with students in the textiles studio (085 Design) from 1 to 3 p.m., and a public presentation in Kocimski Auditorium (101 Design) from 3 to 4 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
