We'll take a historic stroll to examine the campus through the lens of this legend of agriculture. Meet your guide in front of the Sloss Women's Center, east of the Campanile.
"Create Peace" for 11 Days of Global Unity
For the sixth year, Ames will participate in the 11 Days of Global Unity, a program launched in 2004 as a promotion of peace, justice and environmental sustainability. It seeks to inspire, inform and involve humanity in helping to create a world that works for all.
Fall convocation: College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Dean Beate Schmittman will address the state of the college. College and university award recipients and new faculty and staff will be recognized at this ceremony. A reception will follow. RSVPs requested to Laura Wille.

Artful Yoga
Build strength, endurance, and balance in a yoga class that will leave you feeling relaxed and centered. Behind all of those sore muscles you may find patience, peace, and a stronger mind/body connection. No yoga experience is necessary, but please bring your own mat. This free yoga practice is sponsored by the University Museums and Recreation Services.
Metalworking Class
Learn the basics of metalsmithing in this class including how to work with different types of metal, how to safely use tools, and techniques such as sawing, drilling, forming, chasing, annealing and riveting. Students will complete one or two projects depending on complexity. Pendants, earrings and bangle bracelets are just a few of the possibilities!
Middle Eastern Belly Dance Class
Come explore the music and movements of the Middle East with Shiara, an accomplished performer, choreographer and instructor, as your guide. Learn the basic movements used for any style of belly dance as well as a short dance routine that will help to solidify these concepts. Be sure to bring a scarf or shawl to tie around your hips and get ready to shake up your Wednesday night routine!
Intermediate Middle Eastern Belly Dance Class
Expand your understanding, increase your movement vocabulary and explore your personal expression! Examine a variety of concepts to gain a greater mastery of belly dance as well. With practice you will find the ease with which the moves can be executed in the body and how everything is intimately connected with the music to produce a final product.

Panel: Genes, Race, Free Speech, Same-Sex Marriage and the U.S. Supreme Court
Panelists will discuss recent Supreme Court rulings ranging from Marriage Equality and the Voting Rights Act to gene patents and affirmative action, as well as potential cases that may go before the court. Constitution Day Speaker.
Tyler Farr (Country)
Tyler Farr was born and raised in the small town of Garden City, Missouri. The singer was first introduced to country music at age 16, when he spent a summer on the road with his stepfather, who played lead guitar for country icon George Jones. Farr grew to love country music, and he decided to make the move to Nashville to pursue a career as an artist.

President's Annual Address
President Steven Leath will share highlights of the past year and his priorities and goals for the 2013-14 academic year. The university community is invited. Coffee and other refreshments will be available at 8 a.m. A live video stream of Leath's talk will be available from the president's website.

Conservation Subdivision Design: Asli Gocmen
Gocmen is an assistant professor of urban and regional planning at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a GIS state specialist at the University of Wisconsin-Extension. She will present a study investigating land preservation characteristics in 54 Waukesha County, Wis., conservation subdivisions. Part of the Contemporary Issues in Planning and Design Lecture Series.
Fulbright Lunch & Learn Seminar Series
"Preparing a Project Proposal and Planning a Fulbright Stay: A Faculty Perspective," Kimberly Zarecor, Architecture, Czech Republic, 2011-2012 Bring your lunch and learn from Fulbright alumni and current Fulbright-sponsored grantees about a variety of Fulbright Programs. All seminars will start at 12:10 pm and last 20-30 minutes, thus allowing ample time for discussion and socializing.

Paint Your Own Pottery: Bubble Painting
Join us for a fun exploration of techniques in "painting" bisque. This one involves blowing bubbles like when you were a kid, but we do it with a straw and paint. The popped bubbles show up and make interesting patterns on the finished pieces. We will have samples for inspiration but your own ideas are always welcome too. Studio fee is $4 for ISU and $5 for public to attend plus the cost of the bisque you select.
