ISU Surplus Bike Auction
Up to 300 adult-size abandoned bikes collected by ISU's residence and public safety departments will be sold at auction. Viewing begins at 9 a.m. Payment must be cash or check.
Little Free Library Workshop
Little Libraries are popping up all over, including a few in Ames. The Libraries look like small houses and are usually mounted on a pole. Inside are free books that anyone can stop by to pick up. Being a steward of the little library includes providing a spot for the library (your front yard is fine!), and making sure books are available.
Pottery Glazing Workshop
Focus on the proper preparation and application of glazes on bisque ware. Easy methods for enhancing the surface decoration of pottery using such techniques as slips, wax resist, underglazes and overglazes will be demonstrated. This workshop will be helpful to first time glazers as well as those with experience who would like to improve their results.

Join us for stories about spooky monsters & a special visit from a Wild Thing!
VRAC's Halloween Fun House
A virtual Halloween house, featuring the minions from Despicable Me and others, that introduces children to science and technology. All ages are welcome.
Family Event: Spirits in the Gardens
Scare is in the air as Reiman Gardens' Spirits in the Gardens event returns on Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. All are welcome to join in the spooky fun by attending in costume.

Beyond Basics: Metal and Glass Beads Class
Take your lampwork skills to the next level and make amazing glass beads with silver! Learn several ways to add fine silver wire and silver foil to your creations. Other techniques may be used as time permits. There will also be time for troubleshooting and individual questions. Students must complete a beginning glass beads class before taking Beyond Basics classes. Supply fee includes glass for class time only. Propane/MAPP is available.

If you can butter toast, you're already on your way to painting with knives! Get an introduction to the basic tools and techniques for using knives. Learn to achieve texture, sweeping areas of flat or mixed color, and employing impasto, as well as making tiny shapes, straight lines and defined edges, and sgraffito effects with both oil and acrylic paints.
