Cyclone Cinema is presented by the Student Union Board and showcases a variety of film genres, screening a different movie every weekend Thursday - Sunday during the semester. Sunday film screenings are in open caption format. All other screenings can be open caption as well, as long as the request is made to the staff prior to the movie starting.
Latin* Cultural Night
Celebrate Latin* culture through music, dance, and food. We will showcase Latin* cultural performances, a Latin* music DJ, and dance instructors to interact with attendants. Free admission for kids.

Argentine Tango Drop-In Lessons
This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. Classes meet every Sunday and drop-ins are welcome. Purchase a dance punch card and attend as often as your schedule allows. Open to ages 18+.

The Goo Goo Dolls "Chaos in Bloom" added an Ames stop as part of the band's intimate theater tour leg, featuring new songs, deep cuts and hits from their illustrious catalog. Indie rock band Whitehall will open the show.

Paint Your Own Pottery: Give Back Week for SHOP
Bring in a non-perishable food in exchange for $5 off pottery painting. Donations will be delivered to The SHOP (Students Helping our Peers), a student-run, on-campus food pantry. Their mission is to engage with anti-hunger, advocate, and serve the student population by increasing hunger awareness and food security. Information about SHOP and how to get involved will be available. Drop in anytime Monday-Friday 2-9pm or Saturday 10am-4pm.
Lunch and Learn: Start Something at Iowa State
"Start This, Start That ... Start Something at Iowa State," an informational luncheon about the university's startup programs and resources for graduate students, faculty and staff. Learn how to move your technology through the university into a new venture and get connected to available resources. Lunch is free; registration is requested.

Candidate forum: VP for ISU Extension and Outreach
Candidates names will be made public one business day before their visit. Each will meet with faculty and staff, visit a county extension office, and hold an open forum on the first day of their visit. Open forums will be live streamed for staff in the County offices; links will be made available with the announcement of each candidate. The sessions also will be recorded and made available after all the finalist visits are completed.

Interested in majoring in Philosophy or Religious Studies? Currently studying Philosophy or Religious Studies? Ready to meet students and faculty interested in Philosophy and Religious Studies? Join us for free pizza and candy at our annual departmental Halloween party. ISU students who come dressed in an academic-themed costume -- preferably with a connection to philosophy and religious studies -- receive a prize.
Lecture: Reimagining Food Systems to Account for What We Don't Know
Beal Distinguished Lecture in Rural Sociology: "Not the 'Whole Picture,' Reimagining Food Systems to Account for What We Don't Know." Michael Carolan was born, raised, and educated in Iowa. His career took him to Colorado State University where he is co-director of the Food Systems Institute for Research, Engagement and Learning; professor of sociology; and an engagement and extension food systems specialist.
