Karagoz Performance of "Forest of the Witch"
The Forest of the Witch is a modern interpretation of a traditional Anatolian shadow play adapted and performed by Ayhan Hulagu. When Karagöz, the hero of traditional Anatolian shadow plays, cuts the branches from a magical tree, he is transformed into a series of animals, which leads to a comic sequence of adventures. Along the way, Karagöz and his sidekick Hacivat learn the importance of nature and protecting the environment.

Leave it in the Ground: Poems and Drawings
Debra Marquart, Distinguished Professor and Iowa Poet Laureate, will read from her in-progress book-length poem, "Leave it in the Ground," and share images created in collaboration with visual artist Tom Rice. Together, the book and art will examine the true cost of oil extraction to the planet.
Argentine Tango Drop-In Lessons

From the Console to the Stage - Jazz Combo
Join Seth Watgen and his jazz combo for a reimagining of video game music from the Persona 5 soundtrack. The music has been rearranged from the ground up to make it the central experience over the visuals and gameplay. Digital Humanities 101: Intro to Text Analysis
This workshop will introduce participants to the basic concepts of text analysis for working with datasets from novels to transcripts as well as some examples of compelling text analysis projects. Participants will also get hands-on experience exploring and visualizing datasets with tools such as Google Books NGram Viewer and Voyant Tools.
