"Little Dresses for Africa" Work Weekend
Simple dresses made out of pillowcases provide relief and hope for the children of Africa. We will provide the supplies, but can use the hands of volunteers to assist with making the dresses. From cutting fabric and ironing to sewing, there is a place for anyone who has an hour or two to spare.
20th Anniversary Celebration
Anniversary cake, specialty ice cream made by the ISU Dairy Science Club, and other refreshments will be served with remarks by Elizabeth Hoffman, former ISU executive vice president and provost, and a performance by the Yellow Rose of Suffrage singers. The Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics was founded on Sept. 23, 1992, with approval of the Iowa Board of Regents. In 2012, the Catt Center is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
Argentine Tango Practica
This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4- 5pm moves for beginners are introduced with a different figure each week along with techniques for dancing better. From 5 - 7pm the dance floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie and working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time.
