"Sun Come Up" is an Academy Award-nominated film that shows the human face of climate change. It follows the relocation of the Carteret Islanders, a community living on a remote island chain in the South Pacific Ocean that is threatened by rising sea levels. A panel of Iowa State faculty will lead a discussion following the 38-minute film. Msgr. James A. Supple Lecture Series

Sun Come Up - The Film

"Sun Come Up" documents a group of young Carteret islanders as they leave their ancestral home to search for land and build relationships in war-torn Bougainville, fifty miles across the open ocean. The film provokes discussion about climate change, displacement, and the rights of vulnerable communities around the globe.

Nationwide screenings of the film are being sponsored by the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change.

Iowa State faculty participants include Clark Wolf, director of the Bioethics Program and Cinzia Cervato, professor of Geological & Atmospheric Sciences. Anne Clifford, the Msgr. James Supple Chair of Catholic Studies, will moderate.
