Mat Cutting
Learn to size mats, cut straight and beveled edges, and hinge mount artwork. Bring a 5 x 7 or smaller art piece with you to class. This class is required in order to use the mat cutter on your own.

This creative writing short course effectively helps writers develop their skills of self-expression. Gallery Talk with Chris Martin and Barbara Walton
Encaustic paintings by Barbara Walton and fine-art furniture by Chris Martin, associate professors of integrated studio arts, are on display Sept. 24- Oct. 5 in Gallery 181-1, first floor, College of Design. Martin and Walton will present a gallery talk at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in the gallery. The work of both faculty members was funded by Iowa Arts Council Major Grants.

Beyond Spotted Owls and Logging: Forest and Ecosystem Management Today
Jerry Franklin is one of the country's leading authorities on sustainable forest management. He is widely known for his participation on President Clinton's Forest Ecosystem Management Assessment Team (FEMAT), established during the spotted owl controversy in the American Northwest. He is a professor of ecosystem analysis at the University of Washington. The 2012 Paul L. Errington Lecture.

"Noises Off" began when the Michael Frayn stood backstage to watch a performance of a farce he had written and decided that what he saw backstage was funnier than what was happening onstage. The result is "Noises Off" which shows the disintegration of a third rate theatre company from behind the scenes. Frank Rich, theatre critic for The New York Times, called the script "The funniest play written in my lifetime."
