Campus conversation: Students Against Racism
Students will start the conversation with a presentation about the recent events on campus that led to the Students Against Racism protest and demands. Participants will discuss in small groups, while facilitators collect feedback on what is working, what isn't, and what needs to change. An open mic will be available to share stories and input. The event will include resources available for campus community members.
Discuss Published Education Research in Your Discipline (DBER Journal Club)
How do students learn best in your discipline? Where can you publish the way you solved instructional problems? You are invited to share and discuss DBER journal articles, seek feedback as you begin designing your own educational research projects, and form collaborations with participants from other disciplines.

Working in USDA's ezFedGrants System
In this session you'll get detailed instructions on how to navigate the USDA ezFedGrants system, which is currently used by APHIS, Foreign Agricultural Service, and will soon be used by NRCS and other USDA agencies. Writing Winning Grants Proposals
This all-day presentation comprehensively addresses both practical and conceptual aspects that are important to writing competitive grant proposals. The workshop is tailored to meet the needs of the audience, e.g., to focus on the funding agency or agencies (federal, private, and/or industry) that is / are of greatest interest to the attendees. Emphasis is given to doing the "extra" things that can make the difference between success and failure.
Broader Impacts 101
This is a base workshop for anyone who may be new to NSF proposals or want to improve the broader impacts (BI) portions of those proposals. Presenters will cover things, such as: the history of the BI criterion, what the NSF is looking for, how to put together a BI plan, and an extensive list of national and campus resources that can be used to develop BI activities.

When disruptive conduct takes place, a number of Iowa State University instructors recommend addressing it immediately. Their advice: remain calm, assess the situation, listen to student concerns. Especially recommended: provide a clear, firm response that is consistent with responses you've given other students. One lesson learned is that Team-Based Learning (TBL) instructors can be better prepared with strategies to help students persist through challenging application exercises when they know more about the mindset characteristics and preferred learning strategies of the students in their course. For example, it can be frustrating for students to discover that there is not a single correct answer to a case study application exercise.
