Workshop: Engaging Persons with Disabilities - Research Efforts and Opportunities (Part 2)
Persons with disabilities are severely underrepresented in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields of study. This group consists of an entire population of lifelong problem solvers. Engaging them in the STEM educational pipeline and the STEM workforce can be a very rewarding endeavor. Engagement can occur via the research enterprise as well as through outreach and other educational programs.

Seminar: Changing learning by using student ideas to drive instruction
Identifying what students don't understand when they are learning biology can help improve student learning experiences in the classroom. Concept assessments, due to their rigorous development process, can be useful in diagnosing student difficulties and leveraging change.
