Meeting: Faculty Senate
The Faculty Senate represents the general faculty of Iowa State University and participates in shared governance of the University with the administration. Senate meetings are open to the public.

Sentinel Plant Network First Detector Training
Reiman Gardens' staff will take you through the steps to become a certified First Detector, in the ever-increasing effort to detect and diagnose "high-consequence" pests and pathogens, such as the emerald ash borer and the Asian long-horned beetle.

Woodshop Orientation
For the beginner who wants to learn the fundamentals of woodworking equipment. Proper usage of the machinery will be covered, as well as woodshop safety. This class is required in order to use the woodshop on your own.
Macrame Class
Sailors started it, hippies picked it up and The Workspace is bringin' it back! Learn the knots and hitches to create a retro plant hanger. Then, downsize and use the knotting forms to create an earthy bracelet with added beads.

A Three Pillars Delsarte based approach to Middle Eastern Belly Dance in the style of award winning performer Shiara. Learn the basic movements of belly dance with a specific focus and detailed exploration each week (listed below). The 8:20pm class will focus on technique, expression and choreography.

Study Abroad Fair
Talk with both ISU programs as well as affiliate programs that specialize in study abroad. The fair puts students in direct contact with program directors offering a wide range of study abroad options in practically any country in the world. It is an opportunity for students to get answers to their questions and make comparisons between programs to help them decide which program best meets their needs and interests.

Seminar: Nanovaccine Initiative and Political Science
"Countering Myths About Vaccines: Are Facts the Answer?" Brendan Nyhan, Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire. Nyhan will discuss how motivated reasoning can make people vulnerable to misinformation about controversial topics in medicine like vaccines. A reception precedes his seminar at 12:40 p.m.

Metalsmithing Class
Begin your exploration of jewelry-making by learning techniques such as sawing, drilling, forming, chasing, annealing and riveting. Students will complete one or two projects out of copper depending on complexity. Pendants, earrings and bangle bracelets are just a few of the possibilities!
