Workshop: The Pedagogy of Canvas Quizzes

Getting Started With Zotero
Zotero is a great free tool for managing citations and documents, ideal for tracking sources used in your research. This workshop will show you the basics so you can: collect and organize articles and citations, sync data, add references to Word documents and reformat citations to meet any journal's style, and share citations and documents through a Group Library. Campus Town Hall
Students are invited to ask senior administrators questions about important campus issues, before and during the town hall. Topics include: Campus climate/Principles of Community; enrollment/affordability (tuition and fees, differentials, enrollment size and the academic experience); student health and wellbeing; and open topics (time permitting). The event also will be livestreamed.
Lecture: Paranormalcy
Photographer Christopher Schneberger (Columbia College, Chicago) builds entire worlds in his art, creating narrative series filled with otherworldly characters. Using photographic technologies from the antiquated to the futuristic, he weaves together fact and fiction into immersive experiences. Bringing his traveling 3-D theater to the College of Design, Schneberger will show his work and discuss how he creates his complex illusions.

Rosina Bierbaum is a professor and former dean at the University of Michigan School of Natural Resources and Environment. She will discuss her research and career working at the interface of environmental science and policy.

The stand-up comedian and actress has appeared on HBO, MTV and more! Her comedy is based on her unique point-of-view of growing up with 12 siblings in a Muslim family. After getting her degree and becoming a teacher, she decided she had a different calling.

Paint Your Own Pottery: Bubble Painting
Sort of like blowing bubbles when you were a kid, but we do it with a straw and paint. The popped bubbles become more vibrant during firing and make interesting patterns.

Day of Insects
Reiman Gardens is so enthusiastic about insects that we set aside a special day just for them every year. Our annual Day of Insects brings together professionals, academics, advocates and enthusiasts of all levels from across the country to explore and celebrate entomology (the study of insects).

Bring in a t-shirt, leggings, pair of jeans or chambray shirt and grab a bleach pen. Free-hand a design or make a pattern with shapes and marks to turn something drab into something fab.
Fundraiser: Chess to Impress with David Jiles
Co-hosted by the ISU Chess Club, this event is a fundraiser for Students Helping Our Peers (SHOP), the on-campus, student-run food pantry. Jiles, Distinguished Professor of electrical and computer engineering, will play against multiple opponents (as many as 12 contests simultaneously).

Reggie's Sleepout
Using tents, sleeping bags and cardboard box structures, more than 1,000 campers are expected to sleep out on the football field to raise funds and awareness to end youth homelessness.
