Listening session: ISU central services for research
The purpose is to ascertain the strengths and weaknesses of services that are provided to support the research enterprise in order to build an infrastructure that can effectively manage its growth. Input from faculty and staff is sought. The conveners of the session are Vice President for Research and Economic Development Sharron Quisenberry and Associate Vice President for Business and Finance Pam Cain.

Presidential Search Committee conference call
The committee searching for Iowa State University's next president will meet via conference call. The agenda and a call-in number for members of the public who wish to monitor the meeting will be available on this site later. Those on or near campus also can monitor the meeting in the Krieger Board Room (room 2200) in the Gerdin Business Building.

College convocation: College of Human Sciences
All faculty and staff in the college are invited to hear Dean Pam White's presentation on the state of the college, meet new members of the faculty and staff, and kick off the 2011-12 academic year. Breakfast will be served 8-11 a.m.

Welcome Reception and Christian Petersen Design Award

Open house: OLLI at ISU
Instructors for the fall classes will be available to answer questions about their classes. OLLI classes are open to anyone 50 and older. Class registrations and memberships can be submitted at the open house. Memberships cost $25 per year, and class fees vary.

Fall convocation: College of Engineering
The program includes remarks from dean Jonathan Wickert and recognition of college faculty award recipients. A reception follows in the Howe Hall atrium.
Fall convocation: College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
The program includes presentations to LAS awards recipients; recognition of university awards recipients, new faculty and promoted faculty; and a "state of the college" address from interim dean David Oliver. A reception will follow.

Orientation: MBLGTACC
Orientation session to learn more about the Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Conference, which will be held at ISU on Feb. 10-12, 2012. It is the largest student-run LGBTQA college conference in the country.
