Youth Program: Summer Camp 3 - Insects

Let your "summer student" enjoy an afternoon outside at the Gardens and engage in hands-on educational activities while learning and having fun! The informal and exciting lessons will focus on insects, and their importance in the ecosystem. Activities are designed for students ages 11-14. Summer Camp 1 is on Tuesday, June 10, and Summer Camp 2 is on Tuesday, July 8.

Cost: Cost is $12 for members, $15 for the general public, and Iowa State University students pay 15% off the member price.

Photography Class: Indoor Portraiture

Join photo instructor Mark Stoltenberg for a class exploring the how-to of taking great pictures within an indoor setting. Join us and cultivate a real garden at Reiman Gardens. We will learn about and grow lots of vegetables, pumpkins, tomatoes and sunflowers, as well as beautiful flowers. Workshop: Pulp Painting

This is a 3 part class on Thursdays, August 14, August 21, and August 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Add color to paper pulp made from natural and recycled fibers, then reshape, dry, and press it to form 3-D paper pulp paintings. Yvonne Brune, of Creative Department, will show you how to make your own pulp - both with a blender and without. All levels of experience are welcome; ages 10 and up.
