Walk-in Argentine Tango
This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm, moves for beginners are introduced with a different figure each week along with techniques for better dancing. From 5-7pm, the floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie Williams, and for working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time.

Lecture: Intro to Disability Studies
"Beyond Accommodations: An Introduction to Disability Studies," Dan Van Sant, staff advocate at Disability Rights Iowa, will talk about : ableism as a form of oppression, how ableism is deeply entrenched in our culture/language, and the idea that disability is more than accommodations -- it is a way of existing in the world, similar to other forms of diversity. Conversation: Navigating controversial topics in the classroom
Many instructors consciously avoid controversial issues in the classroom because of the difficulty involved in managing heated discussions. However, controversy can be a useful, powerful, and memorable tool to promote learning. This conversation will provide instructors with resources to facilitate classroom discussion around controversial issues including the O.T.F.D. (Open The Front Door) and A.C.T.I.O.N. communication frameworks.
