Walk-In Craft: True Colors
National Coming Out Day is an annual LGBTQIA awareness day observed on October 11. Celebrate with us by making a rainbow garland using colors from the flag with which you identify, including Allies. Whether you identify as LGBTQIA or an Ally, we welcome you at The Workspace because we believe that coming out matters. Information about the Center for LGBTQIA+ Student Success at Iowa State as well as community resources will be available.
Performance: Climate Change Theatre Action
"Climate Change Theatre Action: Lighting the Way," a series of short plays written by international playwrights to support the UN Climate Change Conference. These stories bring science to life and encourage us to work toward a sustainable future together. ISU's CCTA focuses on sharing knowledge, discovering hope and creating community as the best ways to face growing environmental crises.
Documentary: A Meditation on Puerto Rico's Political Status
"The Last Colony: A Meditation on Puerto Rico's Political Status," an in-depth exploration of Puerto Rico's political status and its unique relationship to the United States. Jose Rosa, professor of marketing, will lead a Q&A after the screening.
Knitting Class
Sara Cady A beginning class to learn the basics of knitting: cast-on, knit, purl, bind-off, rib stitch, increase and decrease techniques, gauge swatching, and picking up dropped stitches. Practice outside of class to get muscle memory going, and you will walk away knowing how to read knitting patterns and have a new addiction to the yarn aisle. Open to ages 18+. Yarn will be provided but bring a pair of #7 or #8 single-point needles.
