The transition to remote instruction has left instructors wondering how to conduct meaningful assessment in online environments, where they have less oversight of student behaviors. Our mixed methods investigations have provided a deeper understanding of how instructor-based activity characteristics affect student buy-in and utilization of in-person and online assessment activities.

Our last virtual labs happy hour produced a plethora of crowd-sourced resources for use on the fly. With the end of the term upon us, faculty are faced with the task of purposefully designing labs for online instruction- a whole different animal. ow does one incorporate active learning, inclusivity, assessment and good sound learning strategies into a course one has time to prepare?
