Training: Organic practice standards
This all-day training will provide a review of organic opportunities offered by the Natural Resources Conservation Service's EQIP and CSP programs, as well as information on the new 823 Organic Management Practice Standard. Lunch will be provided. Come ready to learn about all the NRCS opportunities which exist for organic farmers. Registration (required) is free and open to the public.
Paint Your Own Pottery: Fairies, Frogs & Fungi Week
Find your faves from the fauna like prankster pixies and adorable frog figurines, or create a forest floor scene with a fairy house and mushrooms in all sizes.
Afternoon Teapots Class w/ Valerie Williams
Handbuilding pottery doesn't just mean pinch pots! Learn to use our slab roller to create sheets of clay that can be assembled, manipulated, and built into functional ware. This class will start with making mugs and end with constructing a teapot, and during each session participants can enjoy a cup of afternoon tea, on the house.
Women, Power, and Rape Culture: The Politics and Policy of Underrepresentation
Bonnie Stabile is Associate Dean for Student and Academic Affairs and Associate Professor in the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University, where she also founded and directs the Gender and Policy (GAP) Center. Her book, Women, Power and Rape Culture: The Politics and Policy of Underrepresentation, was published by Praeger in September 2022.
Songwriter Showcase (outdoors): Sean M. and Sean T. Sullivan
Iowa musicians Sean M. Sullivan and Sean T. Sullivan will perform as part of the Goldfinch Room Iowa Songwriters Showcase. This event will be on the lawn and patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Outside alcohol is not allowed.
