Special dinner featuring authentic cuisine of Yucatan, Mexico, prepared by Chef Minelia Romero of Merida, Yucatan. All profits going to support programs of the Iowa-Yucatan Partners of the Americas. Reserve a seat by Oct. 5 by contacting Rick Exner.

The meal will feature, among other dishes, sopa de lima, a rich broth of turkey and lime, and cochinita pibil, pork in a tangy sauce featuring the local achiote, a red spice dating from the Maya civilization. A vegan version of pibil may be arranged on request.

Music and cocktails will begin at 5:30 p.m.; dinner served from 6 to 7 p.m. Adding a musical dimension will be Yucatan-born Central College professor of music Gabriel Espinosa along with Des Moines Valley High School jazz studies director Dave Kobberdahl, performing regional favorites.
