The teaching-learning process is an inherently social act. Students interact with the instructor, their peers, and the course content throughout the learning process, often simultaneously in a learning environment. All of these interactions help shape their success in the course.
Education in many STEM disciplines relies largely on field-based activities to meet key learning outcomes. Remote teaching of learning outcomes traditionally taught in field presents unique challenges for students, instructors, and institutions.
The Online Course Essentials (ONCE) workshop is an interactive virtual event in which participants are introduced to a toolset consisting of the ISU course template in Canvas and a pedagogical process to help instructors plan for the online portion of their courses, regardless of whether the course meets face-to-face, virtually or some combination of the two.
