Cyclone Family Weekend
Cyclone Family Weekend (Oct. 13-15) is an annual campuswide event run by student leaders filled with opportunities for families to spend time with their students, learn about Iowa State, and see our beautiful campus. Each year, the activities and opportunities change, but often include performances, tours of campus facilities, meals, and fun activities. Most events are free, but some will require purchase of tickets. Register online.

How to Teach with Generative AI: Supporting Students and Designing Learning Experiences
Artificial intelligence (AI) is quickly becoming integral to our daily lives and educational environments. Yet, our students need guidance on how to use AI tools ethically and productively, particularly with generative AI tools like ChatGPT. Concurrently, instructors are expressing a strong interest in developing engaging, AI-enhanced activities and assignments while minimizing the risks of AI-facilitated cheating.
Open House: Art and Visual Culture department
The Department of Art and Visual Culture's ground-floor art studios and second-floor drawing studios will be open and visitors are invited to participate in a scavenger hunt with a sketchbook and drawing materials as the prize. Snacks will be provided.
Seminar: Art, Creativity and Generative AI
"Art, Creativity and Generative AI," Kunal Sen, AI scientist turned artist. Creativity is a necessary precondition of making art, but is it a sufficient condition? Are all things creative necessarily artistic? Recent advancement in Generative AI is making this question even more important. Sen has the privileged perspective of seeing it from both sides and will present his views on these intriguing questions.

Reiman Gardens popular fall celebration is back with even more spooky fun for two weekends! With 1000+ intricately carved Jack-O-Lanterns, candy, chemistry experiments, cosplay, and so much more. Wear your favorite costume and join in the fun.
Cyclone Cinema: Barbie
Cyclone Cinema is presented by the Student Union Board and showcases a variety of film genres, screening a different movie every weekend Thursday - Sunday during the semester. Sunday film screenings are in open caption format. All other screenings can be open caption as well, as long as the request is made to the staff prior to the movie starting.
Concert: Leslie Mendelson (folk/rock)
This is a seated show. Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Leslie Mendelson is supporting her most recent studio album 'If You Can't Say Anything Nice...,' as well as a solo acoustic EP 'In The Meantime,' that was recorded during the 2020 lockdown.
Performance: RuPaul's Drag Race, Night of the Living Drag
RuPaul Drag Race winner Yvie Oddly will narrate the tales of 7 Queens' supernatural and psychological spooky stories inspired by Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone." In an extravagant production in the tradition of anthology-style horror story telling, Yvie'sm narration accompanies performances by Drag Race winners Jaida Essence Hall, Icesis Couture, and Willow Pill along with fan favorites Angeria, Plastique Tiara, Denali Foxx, and Jorgeous.
