Sun prints are made on special paper that is light sensitive. Place objects on the paper, expose the materials to the sun and the area exposed to the sun will fade from blue to white. We will have some items from nature (leaves, flowers, etc.) but feel free to bring in your own objects to try.

Mandalas are symbolic in Hinduism and Buddhism, and are created with geometric shapes incorporating ancient spiritual symbols. The Memorial Union will be hosting Tibetan Monks September 22-25, and they will create a large scale sand mandala on the 2nd floor. Monks from the the Drepung Loseling Monastery will create a mandala sand painting in the lobby of the Memorial Union Monday, September 22 through Thursday, September 25. The process consists of opening ceremony with chants, music and mantra recitation and ends with the dismantling of the mandala and dispersal of the sand. But, what are some of the major American moments of the 20th and 21st centuries? This talk will be led by Amy Bix, Associate Professor of History, who will discuss the key faces and moments of the women's suffrage movement.
